“SEASONED” Firewood for $250?
“Ain’t NO Way!”
BEWARE – FIREWOOD SCAMMERS ARE RUNNING WILD IN WNC!
Well we’ve heard from several people this week that some fly-by-night “Tommy Chainsaw” has been trying to sell firewood at $250 a cord using our name in places like Facebook, etc. They have also been asking for PayPal payments upfront.
And people are then coming to us asking for wood delivery … naturally we are pissed as hell!
We tried tracking these a-holes down but can’t catch them so far. We figure it’s like a hit and run … post one day, get a sale and then gone the next.
Leaving us with the s%^t!
We just wanted you that this was happening. And explain why if anyone claims we sell wood for $250, it’s a dirty lie:
First, we only sell firewood online through our own secure website shop (see for yourself here > https://naturaltimberfirewood.com/shop/) We never ask you for your PayPal or credit card information via text, email, or private message or ask you to use some random link. And in-person COD it’s Cash or Square.
Second, we only sell NC certified kiln-dried firewood. This costs a damn sight more than $250 a cord. (see our prices here)
Third, if ANYONE offers you SEASONED firewood for $250 a cord or less, its bulls*#t! That wood is probably so green that it still has leaves growing on it!
Now, there is nothing wrong with buying OR selling green or “unseasoned” firewood as long as the buyer knows it’s NOT seasoned!
Hell-ene as certainly provided enough downed trees to go around for years. And so people are hauling off these fallen giants and then splitting them up for sale. A great way to help out AND make some needed cash in hard times.
But the problem is that too many firewood buyers fail to understand that it takes MONTHS for logs to air-dry and season properly. OR that it takes the use of a high-temp propane-fired kilns like ours to dry firewood any faster (usually 3 days).
“Anything else is NOT properly seasoned firewood”
This means both types of seasoned firewood: air-dried or kiln-dried (heat treated) are NEVER sold cheap or below market value.
Beware of scammers trying to sell you green wood, pretending it’s SEASONED or asking you for payment upfront that doesn’t go through a secured website.
If you are still not sure … only pay COD (cash or card on delivery) for your firewood. A professional processor will have no problem with it.
Note: There is nothing wrong with buying firewood online but know WHAT you are getting and WHO you are getting it from!
